Microparticle-Based Detection of Viruses

چکیده
Surveillance of viral pathogens in both point-of-care and clinical settings is imperative to preventing the widespread propagation disease—undetected outbreaks can pose dire health risks on a large scale. Thus, portable, accessible, reliable biosensors are necessary for proactive measures. Polymeric microparticles have recently gained popularity their size, surface area, versatility, which make them ideal biosensing tools. This review cataloged recent investigations polymeric microparticle-based detection platforms across eight virus families. These were used as labels (often with fluorescent microparticles) capturing viruses isolation or purification magnetic microparticles). We also categorized all methods by characteristics, materials, conjugated receptors, size microparticles. Current approaches compared, addressing strengths weaknesses context detection. In-depth analyses conducted each family, categorizing whether labels, capturing, both. summarized types receptors family.

Transmissible spongiform encephalopathies (TSEs) are zoonotic fatal neurodegenerative diseases in animals and humans. TSEs are commonly known as bovine spongiform encephalopathy in cattle, scrapie in sheep and goats, chronic wasting disease in cervids, and Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease in humans. The putative transmissible agents are infectious prion proteins (PrP(Sc)), which are formed by the conv...

The sensitivity of the mouse antibody production test with intraperitoneal or intrasplenic inoculation of mice with reovirus type 3, minute virus of mice, lymphocytic choriomeningitis virus, or mouse hepatitis virus was compared with that of direct isolation in cultured cells. The mouse antibody production test for detection of mouse hepatitis virus was significantly more sensitive than virus i...

Rapid spreading of the low pathogenic avian influenza virus (AIV) caused by the H9N2 subtype and the highly pathogenic AIV caused by H5N1 have caused serious economic losses in the poultry industries of Asia. Therefore, the early detection of AIVs is crucial for the control of the disease. In the present study, the applicability of a rapid immunochromatographic (RIC) assay, which specifically d...

Background and Aims: Influenza virus is a major pathogen involved in respiratory illnesses during winter seasons. A variety of diagnostic methods have been developed to identify influenza viruses in clinical specimen. Methods: Nasal and pharyngeal samples taken from patients were inoculated into Madin-Darby canine kidney (MOCK) cells and embryonated chicken eggs (ECEs). The culture media was a...
متن کاملElectrical detection of single viruses.
We report direct, real-time electrical detection of single virus particles with high selectivity by using nanowire field effect transistors. Measurements made with nanowire arrays modified with antibodies for influenza A showed discrete conductance changes characteristic of binding and unbinding in the presence of influenza A but not paramyxovirus or adenovirus. Simultaneous electrical and opti...
