Microorganisms as biocontrol agents against bacterial citrus diseases
نویسندگان
چکیده
Citrus represents one of the most widely grown crops on planet, extensively cultivated for both fresh fruit and juice markets. The productivity citrus orchards can be seriously affected by highly aggressive pathogenic bacteria, such as Xanthomonas citri subsp. citri, Xylella fastidiosa pauca currently Candidatus Liberibacter asiaticus. Different microbiological biocontrol agents have been described against these pathogens, antagonistic bacteria (mainly species from Pseudomonas Bacillus genus) bacteriophages. This review summarizes all control strategies reported so far bacterial diseases that affect citrus, highlighting those fields study where there is great potential yet to discovered.

Role of Entophytic Microorganisms in Biocontrol of Plant Diseases
Endophytic microorganisms are to be found in virtually every plant on earth. Endophytic microorganisms exist within the living tissues of most plant species and do so in a variety of relationships, ranging from symbiotic to slightly pathogenic. Root endophytic microorganisms are seen as promising alternatives to replace chemical pesticides and fertilizers in sustainable and organic agriculture ...
متن کاملOccupational exposure to microorganisms used as biocontrol agents in plant production.
Exposure to bioaerosols containing fungi and bacteria may cause various deleterious respiratory health effects. Fungi and bacteria are commercially produced and applied to the environment as microbiological pest control agents (MPCAs). Attention has been drawn towards the exposure and health risks due to the use of commercially important MPCAs. As part of a risk evaluation this paper intends to...
متن کاملPLANT PATHOGENS AS BIOCONTROL AGENTS INNATn7EHAWAIIANECOSY~S
Several examples, some spectacular, are available of successful applications of weed biocontrol approaches with plant pathogenic agents in agricultural and rangeland situations. The overall percentage rate of success of all such programs attempted cannot yet be documented, however. Both the "mycoherbicide" method, in which large quantities of inoculum are directly applied to target plants, and ...

Gram or Chickpea (Cicer arietinum Linnaeus), a member of family Fabaceae, is an ancient leguminous crop which is self pollinated, diploid annual (2N=16 chromosomes) grown since 7000BC, in different area of the world but major cultivation is concentrated in semi-arid environments of different areas of the world. It is ranked 3 rd after common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) and pea (Pisum sativum) ...
متن کاملevaluation of fungal isolates as possible biocontrol agents against striga hermonthica
striga hermonthica is a parasitic weed which largely constrains maize and sorghum production in western kenya. the weed mostly invades small scale farms and depending on severity, it may cause damage ranging from 10% to complete crop failure thereby aggravating the food insecurity in that region. this study aimed at evaluating fungal isolates as possible biocontrol agents against the weed. fung...
