Microhardness and Microstructural Evolution of Pure Nickel Processed by High-Pressure Torsion
نویسندگان
چکیده
High-purity Ni was processed by high-pressure torsion (HPT) at room temperature under an imposed pressure of 6.0 GPa and a rotation rate 1 rpm through 1/4 to 10 turns, samples were then examined using Electron Back-Scattered Diffraction (EBSD) microhardness measurements. The results show that the grain size low-angle boundaries (LAGBs) gradually decrease with growth HPT revolutions while values increase. After turns processing, ultrafine-grained (UFG) pure reasonable value microstructure homogeneity can be achieved across disk, thereby giving great potential for applications in micro-forming. A refinement model severe plastic deformation (SPD) is proposed.

Microstructural Evolution in Pure Aluminum in the Early Stages of Processing by High-Pressure Torsion
Measurements were taken to evaluate the evolution of homogeneity in disks of high-purity aluminum in the early stages of processing by high-pressure torsion. The results demonstrate that samples processed through 1/4 or more whole revolutions exhibit microhardness values which are generally higher in the centers of the disks than at the edges whereas after 1/8 turn the hardness is higher at the...
متن کاملMicrostructures and Mechanical Properties of Pure V and Mo Processed by High-Pressure Torsion
Two body centered cubic (bcc) metals, V and Mo, were processed by high pressure torsion (HPT) at ambient temperature. Hardness variation as well as microstructural evolution was examined with strain under a pressure of 2 to 6GPa. It was shown that the hardness increases with straining and saturates to a constant level with the grain size of 330–400 nm in V irrespective of the applied pressures....
متن کاملMicrostructural evolution and phase transformation in twinning-induced plasticity steel induced by high-pressure torsion
The microstructural evolution of twinning-induced plasticity steel during high-pressure torsion (HPT) processing at 573 K was systematically evaluated. Due to the high processing temperature, the formation of a homogeneous nanostructure was primarily dominated by complicated dislocation and grain boundary activities in lieu of deformation twinning. Apart from the grain refinement process, phase...
متن کاملExamining the microhardness evolution and thermal stability of an Al–Mg–Sc alloy processed by high-pressure torsion at a high temperature
An Al–3% Mg–0.2% Sc alloy was solution treated and processed through 10 turns of highpressure torsion (HPT) at 450 K. Afterwards, the HPT-processed alloy was annealed for 1 h at temperatures ranging from 423 to 773 K and its mechanical properties and microstructural evolution were examined using microhardness measurements and electron backscattered diffraction (EBSD) analysis. The results demon...
متن کاملNumerical Analysis of Severe Plastic Deformation by High Pressure Torsion
High-pressure torsion (HPT) is a metal processing method in which the sample is subjected to a very high plastic shear deformation. This process can produce exceptional levels of grain refinement, and provides a corresponding improvement in mechanical properties. To investigate the stress and strain distribution due to HPT process finite element simulation were conducted to investigate effectiv...
