Microgel Preparation by Miniemulsion Polymerization of Passerini Multicomponent Reaction Derived Acrylate Monomers

Three acrylate monomers featuring different side-groups are synthesized in yields up to 94% a one-pot procedure using the versatile Passerini-three-component reaction. The for their miniemulsion polymerization into polymeric particles with tunable sizes is established. Ethylene glycol dimethacrylate introduced as comonomer induce crosslinking and enable production of microgels. Besides shelf life miniemulsions, dependence particle size on concentration surfactant (sodium dodecyl sulfate) crosslinker, well sonication amplitude time, investigated. collapsed microgels range from 21 91 nm. swelling organic solvents studied.
