Docking Studies of Rauwolfia Serpentina Alkaloids as Insulin Receptor Activators
Rauwolfia serpentina also known as Sarpagandha is an integral part of Ayurvedic medical system for over centuries for the treatment of various ailments. The leaves and roots of Rauwolfia serpentina contain alkaloids which are secondary metabolites. Major alkaloids identified are Reserpine, Rauwolfine, Serpentine, Sarpagine, Ajmaline, Yohimbine and Ajmalicine. Insulin binds to insulin receptors ...
متن کاملMICROBIAL TRANSFORMATION OF CHOLESTEROL BY MYCOBACTERIUM SMEGMATIS
Mycobacterium smegmatis PTCC 1307 (CIP 73.26) was used as a microbial agent to produce androsta-1,4-diene-3,17-dione (ADD) and androst-4-ene-3,17-dione, two useful precursors in the synthesis of steroid drugs. The side chain of cholesterol, as the substrate, was selectively cleaved in the presence of five enzyme inhibitors. An intermediate structure with intact side chain, cholest-4-ene-3-one, ...
متن کاملMicrobial Hydroxylation of Indole Alkaloids.
The hydroxylation of the indole-type alkaloids, yohimbine, alpha-yohimbine, beta-yohimbine, and corynanthine, was achieved with several genera of higher fungi and species of Streptomyces. Microorganisms were found which monohydroxylated these compounds in three different positions. The site of hydroxylation was strain-specific for two strains of Cunninghamella echinulata and C. bainieri.
متن کاملMicrobial metabolites of harman alkaloids.
Several microorganisms showed the ability to transform the harman alkaloids, harmaline (1), harmalol (2) and harman (5). Harmaline (1) and harmalol (2) were converted by Rhodotorula rubra ATCC 20129 into the tryptamines, 2-acetyl-3-(2-acetamidoethyl)-7-methoxyindole (3) and 2-acetyl-3-(2-acetamidoethyl)-7-hydroxyindole (4), respectively. Harman (5) was biotransformed by Cunninghamella echinulat...

Helitropium europaeum L. population Garmsar was shown to contain three major alkaloids: heliotrine N-oxide (2), lasiocarpine (4) and lasiocarpine N-oxide (5); and four minor alkaloids: heliotrine (I), europine (3), acetyllasiocarpine (6) and a novel alkaloid acetyllasiocarpine N-oxide (7).
