Micro-level parametric duration-frequency-severity modeling for outstanding claim payments

نویسندگان

چکیده

Unlike collective models, individual models have the advantage of keeping attributes each claim intact. We propose a three-component parametric model that uses this information in form explanatory variables. The first component predicts delays between occurrence, report, and closure using survival models. For second (frequency) third (severity) components, we use generalized linear splice Moreover, elapsed time report claims is converted into an exposure variable count model. Finally, discuss estimation procedures, make predictions, compare results with other data set from major Canadian insurance company.

Bayesian Estimation of Outstanding Claim Reserves

In this paper we present an application of Bayesian forecasting methods to outstanding insurance claims. We assume that the time it takes for the claims to be completely paid is fixed and known, that payments are made annually and that the development of partial payments follow a stable pay-off pattern, from one year of origin to another. We present a Bayesian approach to forecasting either the...

Bayesian Modelling of Outstanding Liabilities Incorporating Claim Count Uncertainty Bayesian Modelling of Outstanding Liabilities Incorporating Claim Count Uncertainty

This paper deals with the prediction of the amount of outstanding claims that an insurance company will pay in the near future. We consider various competing models using Bayesian theory and Markov chain Monte Carlo methods. Claim counts are used in order to add a further hierarchical stage in the usual log-normaland state-space models. By this way, we incorporate information from both the outs...

Modeling Hidden Exposures in Claim Severity via the EMAlgorithm

We consider the issue of modeling the latent or hidden exposure occurring through either incomplete data or an unobserved underlying risk factor. We use the celebrated expectationmaximization (EM) algorithm as a convenient tool in detecting latent (unobserved) risks in finite mixture models of claim severity and in problems where data imputation is needed. We provide examples of applicability o...

Modeling for Parametric System-Level Design Optimization

System-level design refers to a synthesis, analysis, and optimization process which reasons with the system in a holistic manner. We are developing a model-based approach to support parametric system-level design optimization. In this paper, we describe our modeling methodology based on the Environment Relationship net framework (Ghezzi et al. 1991) to represent a system for the purpose of desi...
