Micellar and Surface Properties of Cationic-Cationic Binary Surfactant Mixtures: Synergistic Interactions and Solubility Enhancement of Anthracene

The micellar and surface behaviors of decylammonium chloride (DACl) in presence L-alanine hydrochloride decylester (L-ADE) dodecylester (L-ADDE) at various mole fractions were investigated by conductivity tension measurements. From the measurements, critical micelle concentration (CMC), degree counter-ion ionization (α) standard Gibbs energy micellization (ΔG°mic) for both pure binary mixtures. molecular interaction parameter (β) fraction (XmDACl) mixed formation DACl/L-ADE (C10-C10) DACl/L-ADDE (C10-C12) calculated using regular solution equation proposed Rubingh. ideal values CMC (CMCideal) (XmDACl(ideal)) also obtained according to pseudo phase theoretical models. negative β showed that there synergistic interactions all compositions systems. adsorption parameters such as excess (Γmax), minimum CMC, efficiency reduction (pC20), (ΔG°ads), area per head group a molecule (Amin) pure, their determined. results indicated synergism attractive studied mixtures depend on chain length cationic ester system. solubilization capacity DACl its system with L-ADE L-ADDE towards anthracene determined discussed terms molar ratio (MSR).
