Deterministic walks with choice
This paper studies deterministic movement over toroidal grids, integrating local information, bounded memory and choice at individual nodes. The research is motivated by recent work on deterministic random walks, and applications in multi-agent systems. Several results regarding passing tokens through toroidal grids are discussed, as well as some open questions.
متن کاملCan a Model Checker Generate Tests for Non-Deterministic Systems?
Modern software is increasingly concurrent, timed, distributed, and therefore, non-deterministic. While it is well known that tests can be generated as LTL or CTL model checker counterexamples, we argue that non-determinism creates difficulties that need to be resolved and propose test generation methods to overcome them. The proposed methods rely on fault modeling by mutation and use conventio...
متن کاملPreference and Non-deterministic Choice
After reviewing a previously reported relational model of reversible computing, in which non-deterministic choice may represent provisional choice subject to revision by backtracking, we narrate our attempts to express preference within choice. We begin our investigations by recalling Nelson’s extensions to Dijkstra’s calculus, and considering his biased-choice operator as a model of preference...
متن کاملRegulatory fit effects in a choice task.
This article examines the interface between motivation and choice. In category learning, a regulatory fit has been shown to increase exploration of alternative response strategies even when exploration is suboptimal. In the present study, promotion- and prevention-focused subjects performed a choice task that required them to choose from one of two decks of cards on each trial. They either gain...
متن کاملLinear Deterministic Accumulator Models of Simple Choice
We examine theories of simple choice as a race among evidence accumulation processes. We focus on the class of deterministic race models, which assume that the effects of fluctuations in the parameters of the accumulation processes between-choice trials (between-choice noise) dominate the effects of fluctuations occurring while making a choice (within-choice noise) in behavioral data (i.e., res...
