Method of designing gear-honing-wheel geometries (Considering of relative sliding velocities)

The present paper describes the geometries of honing wheels used in final tooth-flank-finishing process automotive transmission gears. For micro honed gears to keep their required gear accuracy, improper a gear-honing wheel cause dressing interval be short. That is because stock removals are not uniform over tooth flank, then wear also uniform. As result, out tolerances. amount removal could depend on sliding velocities between flanks and so that yield removals. In this paper, geometrical approach proposed determine for minimizing sliding-velocity variations. Gear-honing were designed with method tested through experiments. results showed tolerances within longer dress interval. Therefore, determination gear-honing-wheel extend tool lives mass production.
