Methadone-Induced QT Interval Prolongation and Torsades de Pointes

چکیده
: The most common cause of acquired long QT syndrome in patients without physiological and structural cardiovascular disease is the use medications. Chronic high-dose methadone usage can prolongation interval that may provoke life-threatening arrhythmia Torsades de Pointes. In this study, we present a 41-year-old man with chronic who developed Pointes triggered by short-coupled premature ventricular contraction.

A case is reported of electrocardiographic QT prolongation that was presumbty familial in origin. Torsades de points developed in association with the use ofdothinepin, despite the pmscription of a low dose of this drug.

متن کاملProbucol-induced QT prolongation and torsades de pointes.
Probucol administration of 4 weeks produced torsades de pointes associated with exacerbated QT interval prolongation in a 36-year-old woman with Romano-Ward syndrome. With discontinuance of probucol, the QT interval corrected for rate shortened from 620 msec to 500 msec and ventricular ectopic beats disappeared completely. Although probucol is known to prolong the QT interval, associated ventri...
متن کاملMethadone-induced Torsades de pointes.
Torsades de pointes is a polymorphic ventricular tachycardia that can quickly evolve into ventricular fibrillation and sudden death. This arrhythmia often occurs secondary to medication- induced cardiac repolarization dysfunction with resultant prolonged QTc interval on ECG. Numerous medications can predispose patients to this deadly tachycardia. We report a case of methadone-induced Torsades d...
