چکیده

The occurrence of Hg, Cu, Cr, Cd, Pb, and Zn in green mussels ( Perna viridis Linnaeus, 1758) collected along the East Java Coast (EJC), Indonesia, is reported this study. Cu>Zn>Pb>Cr>Cd>Hg was sequence metal concentrations mussel whole tissues. Green tissues at several locations EJC accumulated Cd Pb levels that exceed recommended level for consumer provisional weekly tolerable intake (PTWI). Target Hazard Quotients (THQs) were greater than one places, suggesting these metals could be harmful to consumers (particularly non-carcinogenic impacts). Cr from PTWI THQ requirements. This finding suggests eating coastal area human health. Furthermore, TR values some sites 10 −4 , indicating can cause cancer people over course a lifetime exposure. • Metal accumulation arranged following order: Cu>Zn>Pb>Cr>Cd>Hg. surpassed allowable limit certain sites. presence may provide health risk consumers. after

Antimicrobial Activity from the Gill Extraction of Perna viridis (Linnaeus, 1758)

Molluscs are highly delicious seafood and they are also very good source for biomedically imported products. Among the molluscs some have pronounced pharmacological activities or other properties which are useful in the biomedical area. In the present study antimicrobial activity of gill extraction of Perna viridis was investigated. In antibacterial activity the maximum zone of inhibition (19 m...

Monitoring trace metal contaminants in green mussel, Perna viridis from the coastal waters of Karnataka, southwest coast of India.

The green mussel (Perna viridis) is widely distributed in the coastal waters of Asia and is used in mussel watch programmes for monitoring environmental contaminants throughout the region. Green mussels representing different size groups and habitats were sampled from their natural beds at 28 locations in the inshore waters of Karnataka (southwest coast of India) to analyze the tissue concentra...

Effect of zinc and benzene on respiration and excretion of mussel larvae (Perna perna) (Linnaeus, 1758) (Mollusca; Bivalvia).

The presence of pollutants in the ocean may affect different physiological parameters of animals. Oxygen consumption and ammonia excretion were evaluated in D-shaped larvae of mussels (Perna perna) exposed to zinc sulphate (ZnSO(4)) and benzene (C(6)H(6)). When compared to the control group, both pollutants presented a significant reduction in oxygen consumption. A reduction in the ammonia excr...

Benzo[a]pyrene absorption and exposure pathways in the green mussel Perna viridis.

The absorption efficiency (AE) of benzo[a]pyrene (BaP), a representative polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon compound, in the green mussel Perna viridis was measured under different biological and food conditions (body size, food quantity, and food species). Uptake of BaP from the aqueous phase by different species of phytoplankton and green mussels was also experimentally quantified. A bioenergeti...

Modeling of cadmium bioaccumulation in two populations of the green mussel Perna viridis.

This study attempted to quantify differences in Cd biokinetics from two populations of green mussels (Perna viridis) from two sites (eastern and western) in Hong Kong with contrasting hydrological conditions. Body Cd concentrations were modeled using a simple biokinetic model coupled with measurements of dissolved Cd concentrations at each site. Mussels collected from the western site had three...
