Metal Complexes of Multidentate N<sub>2</sub>S<sub>2</sub> Heterocyclic Schiff-base Ligands;Formation, Structural Characterisation and Biological Activity

Abstract The synthesis of ligands with N 2 S donor sets that include imine, an amide, thioether, thiolate moieties and their metal complexes were achieved. new Schiff-base ligands; N-(2-((2,4-diphenyl-3-azabicyclo[3.3.1]nonan-9-ylidene)amino)ethyl)-2-((2-mercaptoethyl)thio)-acetamide (H L 1 ) N-(2-((2,4-di-p-tolyl-3-azabicyclo[3.3.1]nonan-9-ylidene)amino)ethyl)-2-((2-mercaptoethyl)thio) acetamide (H2L obtained from the reaction amine precursors 1,4-dithian-2-one in presence triethylamine as a base CHCl3 medium. Complexes general formula K [M(Ln)Cl ], (where: M = Mn (II), Co(II) Ni(II)) [M(Ln)], Cu(II), Zn(II) Cd(II); n =1-2, expect [Cu(HL )Cl]) isolated. entity including purity confirmed using elemental microanalysis (C.H.N.S), atomic absorption (A.A), chloride content, conductivity measurement’s, melting point thermal analysis technique. molecular structures elucidated FT-IR, UV-Vis, magnetic susceptibility, H-and 13 C-NMR mass spectroscopy. synthesised compounds evaluated for activity against bacterial strains (G+ G-) fungi species. tested indicated that; have not shown any antimicrobial Escherichia coli . Cd(II) complexes, H2L , display higher activity, compared other complexes. H Candida albicans All exhibited less types fungi.
