چکیده
Aim: The study-cohort aims to assess PET-CT's correlation with adenocarcinomas' subtypes and propose a scoring system for mediastinal lymph nodes staging.
Material Method: patient cohort is multicenter, retrospective analysis of 268 that underwent surgery NSCLC adenocarcinoma. Preoperative PET-CT results node staging was pathologically confirmed on tissue specimens obtained at anatomical resection. Statistical evaluation PET CT, radiological pathological outcomes were performed all subgroups.
Results: low FDG affinity in the lepidic pattern statistically significant study (p

Revised ESTS guidelines for preoperative mediastinal lymph node staging for non-small-cell lung cancer.
Accurate preoperative staging and restaging of mediastinal lymph nodes in patients with potentially resectable non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is of paramount importance. In 2007, the European Society of Thoracic Surgeons (ESTS) published an algorithm on preoperative mediastinal staging integrating imaging, endoscopic and surgical techniques. In 2009, the International Association for the St...
متن کاملPathological assessment of mediastinal lymph nodes in lung cancer: implications for non-invasive mediastinal staging.
BACKGROUND The use of computed tomography in mediastinal staging of lung cancer relies on the premiss that malignant lymph nodes are larger than benign ones. This hypothesis was tested by linking node size and presence or absence of malignancy and looking at factors possibly influencing the size of benign nodes. METHODS All accessible mediastinal lymph nodes were taken from 56 consecutive pat...
متن کاملMediastinoscopy as a standardised procedure for mediastinal lymph node staging in non-small cell lung carcinoma.
Staging is an essential part of the work-up of a patient presenting with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). It is impossible to decide which treatment is appropriate for an individual patient without information regarding tumor extension, regional lymph node metastases and distant metastases. The ability to assess mediastinal involvement is important since the presence of pathologic mediastina...
متن کاملProspective evaluation of computed tomography and mediastinoscopy in mediastinal lymph node staging.
Precise mediastinal lymph node (LN) staging is imperative in otherwise operable non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), as it determines subsequent treatment and possible inclusion in a neoadjuvant trial. The roles of mediastinoscopy and computed tomography (CT) remain controversial. To determine the accuracy of current CT scanners, a prospective study was performed. From April 1993 until September...
