Mechanistic aspects of nanocellulose–cationic starch–colloidal silica systems for papermaking

چکیده

Optimization of a chemical additive program for paper machine can require attention to both colloidal charges and kinetic effects. This work considered an with two negatively charged substances (nanofibrillated cellulose [NFC] silica) positively items (cationic starch cationic acrylamide copolymer retention aid). Results were shown depend on charge interactions; however, that clearly was not the whole story. Some findings related demand, dewatering, fine-particle retention, flocculation among fibers best explained in terms at least partly irreversible complexation interactions between entities. Adjustments ratios oppositely additives, their sequences addition, effects hydrodynamic shear levels all affected results. In general, most promising results obtained level 0.25% 0.5% based sheet solids systems where used as pretreatment NFC.

Adsorption of polysaccharide wet-end additives in papermaking systems

The adsorption of polysaccharide guar gum and starch additives and their interactions with cellulosic fiber and fines, as well as soluble and colloidal carbohydrates, present in wood pulp suspensions were investigated by employing HPLC and spectrophotometry. A unique phenomenon, i.e. carbohydrate uptake or ‘substraction’, was observed to occur in a variety of cellulosic systems [whole pulp, was...

Kinetic Aspects of Tetrahydrobenzo[b]pyran Formation in the Presence of Fructose as a Green Catalyst: a Mechanistic Investigation

The kinetics and mechanism of the reaction between benzaldehyde 1, malononitrile 2 and dimedone 3 in a mixture of ethanol and water as solvents in the presence of fructose as a biodegradable catalyst has been studied by the spectroscopic method (UV-Vis spectrophotometry method). The influence of various parameters (temperature, solvent and concentration) was studied on the reaction by means of ...
