Mechanism of charge injection-based electrohydrodynamic pump with interdigitated electrodes

The mechanisms of a charge injection-induced electrohydrodynamic pump using the lattice Boltzmann method are numerically investigated in this paper. is composed dielectric liquid layer and two substrate layers with embedded electrodes. There three possible flow modes found, which associated generation local convective rolls for different electrode arrangements, namely, one vortices an irrotational mode. For modes, results presented both transient development field steady-state total rate pressure. A distinct four-state transition can be observed temporal record velocity field. Regarding pumping ability, it found that mode lead to optimal performance, while single-vortex gives worst performance.
