Mechanical properties and crystallographic texture of non-oriented electrical steel processed by repetitive bending under tension

Improving the magnetic properties of non-oriented electrical steel (NOES) through optimization crystallographic texture has been an on-going research activity for decades. However, using traditional rolling and annealing procedures, obtained final textures were usually very similar, i.e., exhibiting {111} (γ) <110> (α) fibres, which not desired {001} (θ-fibre) optimal quality. In current work, a 1.8 wt% Si NOES was processed new sheet metal deformation method, repetitive bending under tension (R-BUT), also known as continuous (C-BUT), to modify steel. The hot-rolled annealed plates repeatedly bent unbent when they pulled tension. deformed then heat treated at different temperatures various times. Neutron diffraction electron backscatter (EBSD) characterisation macro- micro-textures proved that R-BUT process significantly reduced undesired while promoting texture. cube texture, rarely formed after conventional annealing, seen in samples annealing. It shown that, shear plastic (induced by R-BUT) played significant role textures. addition, results indicated could be beyond its common formability limit, may provide method address poor workability challenge high silicon steels.
