چکیده
The internal and external mechanical environment plays an important role in tumorogenesis. As a proxy of avascular early state tumor, we use multicellular spheroids, composite material made cells, extracellular matrix permeating fluid. We characterize its effective rheology at the timescale minutes to hours by compressing aggregates with osmotic shocks modeling experimental results active poroelastic that reproduces stress strain distributions aggregate. model also predicts how emergent bulk modulus aggregate as well hydraulic diffusion percolating interstitial fluid are modified preexisting within further show value these two phenomenological parameters can be rationalized considering that, our context, cells effectively impermeable incompressible inclusions nested compressible permeable matrix.

Mechanical Stress Impairs Mitosis Progression in Multi-Cellular Tumor Spheroids
Growing solid tumors are subjected to mechanical stress that influences their growth rate and development. However, little is known about its effects on tumor cell biology. To explore this issue, we investigated the impact of mechanical confinement on cell proliferation in MultiCellular Tumor Spheroids (MCTS), a 3D culture model that recapitulates the microenvironment, proliferative gradient, a...
متن کاملThe Mechanical Behavior of a Soilbag under Vertical Compression
For a single soilbag filled with a cohesionless granular material analytical and numerical models based on a continuum approach are used to predict the evolution of deformation and stress under monotonic compression and plane strain conditions. Analytical models with different assumptions for the stress ratio distribution in the filling material, a constant volume and a frictionless interface b...
متن کاملMechanical Behavior of an Electrostatically-Actuated Microbeam under Mechanical Shock
In this paper static and dynamic responses of a fixed-fixed microbeam to electrostatic force and mechanical shock for different cases have been studied. The governing equations whose solution holds the answer to all our questions about the mechanical behavior is the nonlinear elasto-electrostatic equations. Due to the nonlinearity and complexity of the derived equations analytical solution are ...
متن کاملCell-like pressure sensors reveal increase of mechanical stress towards the core of multicellular spheroids under compression
The surrounding microenvironment limits tumour expansion, imposing a compressive stress on the tumour, but little is known how pressure propagates inside the tumour. Here we present non-destructive cell-like microsensors to locally quantify mechanical stress distribution in three-dimensional tissue. Our sensors are polyacrylamide microbeads of well-defined elasticity, size and surface coating t...
متن کاملCompression Depth and the Behavior of Cellular
A computable complexity measure analogous to computational depth is developed using the Lempel-Ziv compression algorithm. This complexity measure, which we call compression depth, is then applied to the computational output of cellular automata. We nd that compression depth captures the complexity found in Wolfram Class III celluar automata, and is in good agreement with his classi cation schem...
