Mechanical and acoustic characteristics of four wood species subjected to bending load

چکیده

The mechanical and acoustic properties of four commonly used wood species, including Populus tomentosa (Poplar), Swietenia mahagoni (Mahogany), Fagus orientalis (Beech), Fraxinus excelsior (Ash) were investigated through using three-point bending notched tests synchronizing with power spectrum analysis method fractal dimension theory. results showed that the modulus elasticity rapture changed in same trend order ranging from high to low was ash, beech, poplar, mahogany, successively. brittle fracture occurred mahogany samples ductile raised other three species. Positive proportional correlation observed between maximum pressure regardless seeing species as independent or population samples. failure modes can be identified by amplitude-frequency curve following laws: peak value relatively higher when a single crack developed at latewood; for earlywood, only one curves, corresponding smaller than case two cracks there are peaks those earlywood latewood. vibrational characterized test distinguish

An Investigation of Stress and Deformation Behavior of Functionally Graded Timoshenko Beams subjected to Thermo-Mechanical Load

A functionally graded material beam with generalized boundary conditions is contemplated in the present study in order to examine the deformation and stress behavior under thermal and thermo-mechanical load. Three discrete combinations of functionally graded materials have been deliberate in including a wide range of materials and material properties. The variation of material properties has be...

Ultimate Load Capacity and Behavior of Thin-Walled Curved-Steel Square Struts, Subjected to Compressive Load

There have been some experimental tests on hollow curved-steel struts with thin-walled square sections, in order to investigate their general behavior, particularly their capacity for bearing differing loads. One set of square tubes are cold-formed into segments of circular arcs with curvature radii, equal to 4000 mm. Different lengths of curved struts are fabricated so as to cover a practical ...

Propagation of Matrix Cracking and Induced Delaminatin in Cross-Ply Composite Beams Subjected to Bending Loads

Due to the mismatch of mechanical properties in composite laminates, propagation of delami-nation is considered as a severe damage mechanism in beams with various lay-up configurations. Delamination can be generated due to matrix cracking propagation or it can also be initiated due to the manufacturing process before using composite beams. Using a micromechanics model, this study is aimed to in...

Application of CCG Sensors to a High-Temperature Structure Subjected to Thermo-Mechanical Load

This paper presents a simple methodology to perform a high temperature coupled thermo-mechanical test using ultra-high temperature ceramic material specimens (UHTCs), which are equipped with chemical composition gratings sensors (CCGs). The methodology also considers the presence of coupled loading within the response provided by the CCG sensors. The theoretical strain of the UHTCs specimens ca...
