A Microcolorimetric Method for Measuring the Oxygen Saturation of Blood
For purposes of measuring oxygen saturation in the arterial blood of newly born infants (1) it became necessary to develop a rapid and reasonably accurate method for small blood samples. It was further necessary to demonstrate that cutaneous blood samples could be considered identical with specimens drawn directly from an artery. The present communication describes the calorimetric method evolv...
متن کاملFour-angle saturation transfer (FAST) method for measuring creatine kinase reaction rates in vivo.
A new fast method of measuring kinetic reaction rates for two-site chemical exchange is described. The method employs saturation transfer magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) and acquisition of only four spectra under partially saturated, high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) conditions. In two acquisitions one of the exchanging species is saturated; the other two employ a control saturation. Each ...
متن کاملSimple, accurate solid-state diode photometer for use in measuring oxygen saturation of whole blood.
A small, easily-built photometer is described, in which a solid-state light-emitting diode is used as the light source and a phototransistor as the detector. The detector response is kept constant by modulating the diode intensity in proportion to the absorption characteristics of the sample being analyzed. Linearity and stability are good, even with turbid solutions (drift is <0.00 1 absorbanc...
متن کاملAn optimized T1nom Approach for Super Fast Measuring Enzyme Kinetics in vivo using Saturation Transfer Technique
Introduction Magnetization saturation transfer (ST) is a most commonly used technique in P MRS to non-invasively measure the enzyme kinetics of phosphoryl-exchange reactions such as the creatine kinase (CK) and ATPase reactions. Despite of the simple algorithm for quantification of unidirectional kinetic constant, the lengthy acquisition time of conventional ST approach precludes the applicatio...
متن کاملTheoretical Analysis of a Spectrophotometric Technique for Measuring Oxygen Saturation in Retinal Vessels
Diabetes mellitus patients often suffer from diabetic retinopathy (DRP), a disease that reduces vision significantly. The main cause of this disease is probably hypoxia, lack of oxygen. In this paper a precision analysis of a non-invasive method to calculate the oxygen saturation in the retina in order to diagnose DRP is presented. Simulations show that this approach is promising.
