Measuring Improved Reliability in Stochastic Systems
In this paper, we examine reliability of stochastic systems with speci c application to Stochastic Process Algebras. We look at variance as a possible reliability metric and show how it can be reduced across di erent Stochastic Process Algebra combinators, thus giving more deterministic and reliable systems. We apply these techniques to analyse and improve a searching algorithm.
متن کاملA Transformational Approach for Measuring Software Reliability
This paper addresses the problem of measuring the reliability of safety-critical software. One theoretically sound approach is the statistical sampling method which, however, has some practical drawbacks. The two most serious objections are the large number of test cases needed to attain a reasonable confidence in the reliability estimate and the sensitivity of the reliability estimate to error...
متن کاملA Fuzzy Goal Programming Approach for Optimizing Non-normal Fuzzy Multiple Response Problems
In most manufacturing processes, each product may contain a variety of quality characteristics which are of the interest to be optimized simultaneously through determination of the optimum setting of controllable factors. Although, classic experimental design presents some solutions for this regard, in a fuzzy environment, and in cases where the response data follow non-normal distributions, th...
متن کاملStochastic Programming: Minimax Approach
In many applications of stochastic programming there is some uncertainty about the probability distribution P of the random parameters. The incomplete knowledge of the probability distribution can be described by assuming that P belongs to a specified class P of probability distributions. This in turn suggests to use the minimax decision rule. The first results were concerned with stochastic li...
متن کاملA Stochastic Programming Approach for a Multi-Site Supply Chain Planning in Textile and Apparel Industry under Demand Uncertainty
In this study, a new stochastic model is proposed to deal with a multi-product, multi-period, multi-stage, multi-site production and transportation supply chain planning problem under demand uncertainty. A two-stage stochastic linear programming approach is used to maximize the expected profit. Decisions such as the production amount, the inventory level of finished and semi-finished product, t...
