Maximum One-Factor-At-A-Time Designs for Screening in Computer Experiments

چکیده

Identifying important factors from a large number of potentially highly nonlinear and computationally expensive black box model is difficult problem. Morris screening Sobol’ design are two commonly used model-free methods for doing this. In this article, we establish connection between these seemingly different in terms their underlying experimental structure further exploit to develop an improved called Maximum One-Factor-At-A-Time (MOFAT) design. We also efficient constructing MOFAT designs with factors. Several examples presented demonstrate the advantages compared methods.

One-Factor-at-a-Time Versus Designed Experiments

Many engineers and scientists perform one-factor-at-a-time (OFAT) experiments. They will continue to do so until they understand the advantages of designed experiments over OFAT experiments, and until they learn to recognize OFAT experiments so they can avoid them. A very effective way to illustrate the advantages of designed experiments, and to show ways in which OFAT experiments present thems...

Maximum projection designs for computer experiments BY V. ROSHAN JOSEPH, EVREN GUL

Space-filling properties are important in designing computer experiments. The traditional maximin and minimax distance designs consider only space-filling in the full-dimensional space; this can result in poor projections onto lower-dimensional spaces, which is undesirable when only a few factors are active. Restricting maximin distance design to the class of Latin hypercubes can improve one-di...

Ensembles of Adaptive One-Factor-at-a-time Experiments: Methods, Evaluation, and Theory

th , 2008, in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Engineering Systems This thesis recommends an experimentation methodology which can be used to improve systems, processes and products. The proposed technique borrows insights from statistical prediction practices referred to as Ensemble Methods, to extend Adaptive One-Factor-at-a-Time (aOFAT) experi...

Improvement of One Factor at a Time Through Design of Experiments

Experiments can discover many unexpected things and highlighted issues for further detailed study. The emerging of advanced products and processes are changing rapidly, customers are more demanding and product life-cycle and time to market are shrinking. In this environment engineers and scientists need a strategic approach to overcome this demand. Design of experiments (DOE) is the answer to t...
