Connected but not path-connected subspaces of infinite graphs
Solving a problem of Diestel [8] we show that the Freudenthal compactification of a locally finite graph can have connected subsets that are not path-connected. However we prove that connectedness and pathconnectedness do coincide for all but a few sets, which have a complicated structure.
متن کاملAlgorithms for the minimum non-separating path and the balanced connected bipartition problems on grid graphs
For given a pair of nodes in a graph, the minimum non-separating path problem looks for a minimum weight path between the two nodes such that the remaining graph after removing the path is still connected. The balanced connected bipartition (BCP2) problem looks for a way to bipartition a graph into two connected subgraphs with their weights as equal as possible. In this paper we present an O(N ...
متن کاملMaximum matchings in 3-connected graphs contain contractible edges
In this paper it is shovm that every maximum matching in a 3-connectccl graph, other than ](4, contains at least one contractible edge. In the case of a. perfect ma.tching, those graphs in \vhich there exists a perfect matching containing precisely one contractible edge arc characterized.
متن کاملSpectral radius and maximum degree of connected graphs
Given a connected irregular graph G of order n, write μ for the largest eigenvalue of its adjacency matrix, ∆ for its maximum degree, andD for its diameter. We prove that ∆− μ > 1 (D + 2)n and this bound is tight up to a constant factor. This improves previous results of Stevanović and Zhang, and extends a result of Alon and Sudakov.
متن کاملNon-separating trees in connected graphs
Let T be any tree of order d ≥ 1. We prove that every connected graph G with minimum degree d contains a subtree T ′ isomorphic to T such that G − V (T ) is connected.
