Maximum critical temperature and oxygen consumption during thermoregulation in Macrobrachium americanum (Bate, 1868) adult prawns

چکیده
Macrobrachium americanum is a large prawn living in rivers and coastal water bodies of tropical subtropical ecosystems the Pacific side Americas. Water temperature salinity are main physicochemical variables determining its distribution. Temperature also influences metabolic rate, which determines growth rate reproduction. Because this, preferred temperature, critical thermal maximum (CTMax), O2 consumption rates at four temperatures (20, 24, 28, 32°C) were tested from wild prawns laboratory assays. Those correspond to annual fluctuations sampling site. The final this species close 26.4°C. acclimatization has an almost linear effect on CTMax (R2 = 0.987, P < 0.05), oxygen routine increased as acclimation 20 32°C.

External Description of the Embryonic Development of the Prawn, Macrobrachium Americanum Bate, 1868 (decapoda, Palaemonidae) Based on the Staging Method
The embryonic changes during the development of the freshwater prawn, Macrobrachium americanum are described from observations made on live embryos based on the percentage-staging method. Eggs were observed with a stereomicroscope to obtain descriptions of embryonic periods. This prawn has an incubation time of 18 days at 24◦C. Ten periods are described and illustrated. A comparison of this dev...

Macrobrachium snpurii sp. nov., collected from the Karamana River, in the lower reaches of Western Ghats, is described and illustrated. DNA barcoding using Cytochrome B gene sequences has elucidated the taxonomic status of the new species and the NJ tree reveals that M. snpurii sp. nov., is phylogenetically close to M. idella idella. However, morphometric and meristic features of the species sh...

The neotropical species Macrobrachium amazonicum (Heller, 1862) is considered a particularly successful species, showing an extremely wide range of distribution (ca 4.000 km across). Populations assigned to this species live in estuaries along the northern and northeastern coasts of South America as well as in fresh water habitats in the Amazon, Orinoco and Paraná-Paraguay river basins. متن کاملMitochondrial DNA and Maximum Oxygen Consumption
Mitochondrial DNA contains genes for 13 mitochondrial proteins involved in oxygen consumption. Variation in the DNA sequence of these genes could therefore contribute to the differences in endurance performance between individuals. Recent studies have provided conflicting data on the relationship between mitochondrial DNA and an important factor influencing endurance performance, maximum oxygen...
