Evaluating products of matrix pencils and collapsing matrix products
This paper describes three numerical methods to collapse a formal product of p pairs of matrices P = Q p?1 k=0 E ?1 k A k down to the product of a single pair ^ E ?1 ^ A. In the setting of linear relations, the product formally extends to the case in which some of the E k 's are singular and it is impossible to explicitly form P as a single matrix. The methods diier in op count, work space, and...
متن کاملdeterminant of the hankel matrix with binomial entries
abstract in this thesis at first we comput the determinant of hankel matrix with enteries a_k (x)=?_(m=0)^k??((2k+2-m)¦(k-m)) x^m ? by using a new operator, ? and by writing and solving differential equation of order two at points x=2 and x=-2 . also we show that this determinant under k-binomial transformation is invariant.

In this article we obtain a general polynomial identity in k variables, where k ≥ 2 is an arbitrary positive integer. We use this identity to give a closed-form expression for the entries of the powers of a k × k matrix. Finally, we use these results to derive various combinatorial identities.
متن کاملEfficient Sparse Matrix-matrix Products Using Colorings
Sparse matrix-matrix products appear in multigrid solvers and computational methods for graph theory. Some formulations of these products require the inner product of two sparse vectors, which have inefficient use of cache memory. In this paper, we propose a new algorithm for computing sparse matrix-matrix products by exploiting matrix nonzero structure through the process of graph coloring. We...
متن کاملTraces of Matrix Products
Given two noncommuting matrices, A and B, it is well known that AB and BA have the same trace. This extends to cyclic permutations of products of A’s and B’s. It is shown here that for 2 × 2 matrices A and B, whose elements are independent random variables with standard normal distributions, the probability that Tr(ABAB) > Tr(AB) is exactly 1 √ 2 .
