Mathematical Modelling and Multiresponse Optimization to Minimize Surface Roughness in Drilling Custom 450 Stainless Steel

In the present study, drilling tests were carried out on Custom 450 stainless steel workpieces. The influences of control factors (cutting speed-Vc, feed rate-f and drill bit geometry-D) drilled holes’ surface roughness (Ra) size adhering workpiece (AW) to was examined. results obtained from designed based Taguchi’s L16 orthogonal array analysed using ANOVA grey relational analyses (GRA). Therefore, their levels optimised simultaneously for quality characteristics (Ra AW). addition, mathematical models also developed Response Surface Methodology (RSM) in order estimate characteristics. used bits examined under digital scanning electron microscopes EDX analysis bits. experimental showed that Ra AW increased with increasing f. It seen Vc resulted decrease layer wear became clear at highest 60 m/min. According results, most effective factor f 93.11% 58.14% AW. GRA revealed influential optimum m/min Vc, 0.005 4.
