Mathematical Modeling of Foot and Mouth Disease Spread on Livestock using Saturated Incidence Rate

چکیده

Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) is an acute infectious disease that attacks livestock, thus threatening the availability of food husbandry industry. This paper discusses formulation a mathematical model for spread FMD in livestock with saturated incidence rate. The research method used quantitative modeling simulation, stages including problem identification, determining assumptions, formulation, analysis simulation. discussion results obtained two equilibrium points, namely non-endemic point endemic point, then analyzed stability. Numerical simulation presented using Runge-Kutta approximation MATLAB. Furthermore, after sensitivity analysis, parameters greatly influenced were direct or indirect contact (which led to entry virus) supporting capacity livestock. Then most influential parameter reducing application culling on exposed animals infected animals. form simulate

Network Analysis of Livestock Movements to Estimate Potential Silent Spread of Foot-and-mouth Disease

Introduction Recognizing the importance of livestock movements in the spread of contagious diseases, various countries in the world have developed livestock movement databases. Social network analysis techniques have recently been applied to study such databases as this technique has the advantage of allowing the study of the interactions among all pairs of livestock holdings that are formed fo...

Simulation of foot-and-mouth disease spread within an integrated livestock system in Texas, USA.

We used a simulation study to assess the impact of an incursion of foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) virus on the livestock industries in an 8-county area of the Panhandle region of Texas, USA. The study was conducted in a high-density livestock area, with an estimated number of cattle on-feed of approximately 1.8 million. We modified an existing stochastic, spatial simulation model to simulate 64 s...

A simple mathematical model of the spread of Foot-and-Mouth Disease Virus through epithelial cells

Foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) is a significant socio-economic problem on a global scale. Furthermore, the disease causes considerable pain and suffering to the infected animals. The FMD virus is highly contagious and primarily infects epithelial cells in the tongue and feet regions, where resulting lesions can often develop. The disease appears to behave quite differently in the epitheliums of t...

Modelling the spread of foot-and-mouth disease virus.

Foot-and-mouth disease is an economically important viral disease in animals. It is shown that airborne diffusion is one of the main sources of contamination between animals and between herds. Epidemiological data linked to viral particle excretion can thus be used in a predictive model, added to meteorological data related to the few days before the slaughter of animals. The model computes, on...

A hybrid modeling approach to simulating foot-and-mouth disease outbreaks in Australian livestock

Foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) is a highly contagious and economically important viral disease of cloven-hoofed animals. Australia’s freedom from FMD underpins a valuable trade in live animals and animal products. An outbreak of FMD would result in the loss of export markets and cause severe disruption to domestic markets. The prevention of, and contingency planning for, FMD are of key importance...
