Abstract This paper studies the impact of day-to-day variation in maternity ward crowding on medical procedure use and health infants mothers. Exploiting data universe Danish admissions to wards years 2000–2014, we first document substantial admissions. residual crowding, find that change provision procedures care crowded days relative less days, they do so ways alleviate their workload. We very small precisely estimated effects child maternal health. Thus our results suggest that, for majority uncomplicated births, Denmark can cope with observed inside-ward daily without detectable risks.
