Material-separating regularizer for multi-energy x-ray tomography

چکیده

Dual-energy X-ray tomography is considered in a context where the target under imaging consists of two distinct materials. The materials are assumed to be possibly intertwined space, but at any given location there only one material present. Further, energies chosen so that clear difference spectral dependence attenuation coefficients A novel regularizer presented for inverse problem reconstructing separate tomographic images combination things, (a) non-negativity constraint, and (b) penalty term containing inner product between images, promotes presence most pixel. preconditioned interior point method derived minimization regularization functional. Numerical tests with digital phantoms suggest new algorithm outperforms baseline method, Joint Total Variation regularization, terms correctly material-characterized pixels. While tested two-dimensional setting energies, approach readily generalizes three dimensions more number just needs match used imaging.

Multi-Mounted X-Ray Computed Tomography

Most existing X-ray computed tomography (CT) techniques work in single-mounted mode and need to scan the inspected objects one by one. It is time-consuming and not acceptable for the inspection in a large scale. In this paper, we report a multi-mounted CT method and its first engineering implementation. It consists of a multi-mounted scanning geometry and the corresponding algebraic iterative r...

High-Energy 3-D X-ray Tomography for Container Inspection

The field of sea freight container inspection has been driven by the U.S. home resolution number one “H.R.1” in the last decade. This law motivated various major research projects inside and outside Europe. The Fraunhofer Development Center X-ray Technology EZRT in Fürth / Germany was partner in ECSIT a three-year project funded by the German ministry for science and research. Within this conte...

Empirical correlation for porosity deduction from X-ray computed tomography (CT)

For obtaining reservoir petrophysical properties, for example porosity, non-destructive methods such as X-ray computed tomography, CT, seems to be precise and accurate. Porosity is deducted from the CT image with a single scan via different techniques, such as pore space detection by image segmentation techniques then correlation with porosity. More than one hundred samples with carbonate li...

Illicit material detection using dual-energy x-ray images

Dual energy X-ray inspection systems are widely used in security and controlling systems. The performance of these systems however, degrades with the poor performance of human operators. Computer vision based systems are of vital importance in improving the detection rate of illicit materials, while keeping false alarms at a reasonably low level. In this study, a novel method is proposed for de...

Evaluation of CUDA for Multi-Energy X-ray Image Reconstruction

High-performance computing capability enabled the development of a multi-energy X-ray imaging system which requires image reconstruction from multi-energy images. Usually, pararell processing of CUDA is faster than CPU. However, the CUDA could not be taking advantage depending on kind of program. In this paper, we investigate the performance of the CUDA for parallel processing in order to evalu...
