چکیده

Satellite synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images are recognized as one of the most efficient tools for day/night, all weather and large area monitoring ships at sea. However, false alarms discrimination is still key problem on SAR ship detection. While many techniques have been proposed treatment alarms, not enough emphasis has targeted to explore how obtained related changing ocean environmental conditions. To this end, we combined a set Sentinel-1 with surface wind wave data into dataset. were separated three distinct groups according age (WA) conditions present during image acquisition: young sea, old swell. A constant alarm rate (CFAR) detection algorithm was implemented based generalized gamma distribution (GΓD). Kolmogorov–Smirnov distance used analyze goodness-of-fit among environments. backscattering analysis different sizes targets sea clutter further performed using OpenSARShip automatic identification system (AIS) datasets assess its separability. We derived threshold adjustment WA showed efficacy drastically reduce alarms. our knowledge, use part CFAR novelty which could be tested evaluated sensors.

A Coarse-to-Fine Approach for Ship Detection in SAR Image Based on CFAR Algorithm

Among ship detection methods for SAR image, constant false alarm rate (CFAR) is the most important one. However, several factors, such as detector parameter and distribution of ocean clutter, affect the performance of CFAR detection. This paper proposes a novel hierarchical complete and operational ship detection approach based on detector parameter estimation and clutter pixel replacement, whi...

CFAR edge detector for polarimetric SAR images

Finding the edges between different regions in an image is one of the fundamental steps of image analysis, and several edge detectors suitable for the special statistics of synthetic aperture radar (SAR) intensity images have previously been developed. In this paper, a new edge detector for polarimetric SAR images is presented using a newly developed test statistic in the complex Wishart distri...

Ship Detection in SAR Imagery

 Abstract---As a part of Maritime Domain Awareness, there is a requirement to detect ships in satellite-borne Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) images, which provide wide area ocean surveillance. When ship detection is implemented using a Constant False Alarm Rate (CFAR), statistical theory can be employed to ensure that proper parameters are used to find the thresholds for detection; inaccuracy ...

Wave Age Retrieval from SAR Images in Japanese Coastal Waters

In this study, we present an approach to retrieve wave period, phase speed at the peak of the spectrum and thus the wave age from SAR image mode precision image (PRI) data around the coast of Japan. The in-situ NOWPHAS wave gauge data is used for matching up the SAR images and for validation. The wind speed at 10m height is acquired by inverting the relationship between the radar cross section ...

Non-Gaussian CFAR Techniques for Target Detection in High Resolution SAR Images

Constant False Alarm Rate (CFAR) processing of Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) images facilitates target detection in spatially varying background clutter. The traditional Rayleigh distribution does not appear to be a good choice for modeling the natural terrain backscatter in high resolution SAR. We use the Weibull and K distributions to model clutter since they seem to t observed data better a...
