Mapping the liquefaction potential index (LPI) in Ratu Agung subdistrict, Bengkulu City, Indonesia using the shear wave velocity approach

On the 4 th of June, 2000 and 12 September, 2007, Ratu Agung Sub-district, Indonesia experienced significant damage due to liquefaction after earthquakes. Therefore, this study aims determine Liquefaction Potential Index in area. Data shear wave velocity (Vs) was collected using Multichannel Analysis Surface Wave (MASW) method. The measurement location set up on a grid 32 observations points with field investigations. Furthermore, Simplified Procedure LPI methods were used measure soil potential vulnerability level. results showed that value Subdistrict ranged from 102 m/s 442 m/s. Also, levels varied high very categories maximum acceleration conditions dominated by loose sand, as well influence different geological formations zone. In conclusion, an empirical equation successfully proposed analyze vulnerability.
