Manganese – a promising element also in high alloy sintered steels

نویسندگان

چکیده

Manganese is a standard alloy element in many wrought steels, offering improved strength and hardenability and, Hadfield also unique combination of strength, ductility work hardening behaviour. In sintered steels Mn has been used rarely so far because two reasons: one the high oxygen affinity which promotes pickup during heat treatment inhibits removal part through ‘internal getter’ effect. The other reason vapour pressure results loss sintering. this presentation, these problems are discussed on Mn-alloyed with transformation-induced plasticity It shown that by suitable alloying techniques, combined adjustment manufacturing parameters, can be overcome benefits addition reaped, obtaining PM for potentially surface densification attained run.

Viscoelastic behaviour of porous sintered steels compact

This paper describes the viscoelastic behaviour of sintered steels with porosities of 12, 20 and 33%, using a dynamic mechanical analyser. Test specimens were prepared from premix powders of 100–150 mm size by a process of die compaction, delubrication and sintering. The influences of test temperature and vibrational frequency on storage and loss modulus and tangent delta have been investigated...

Influence of High Strain Rates on the Mechanical Behavior of High-Manganese Steels

In this work, dynamic mechanical properties of three high-manganese steels with TRIP/TWIP or fully TWIP characteristics are studied. High strain rate experiments in the range of true strain rates between ~500 and 1800 /s are conducted using a dynamic torsional testing setup. All the three steels show a positive strain rate sensitivity in the intermediate range of strain rates (up to 500 /s). Bu...

Estimation of Atmospheric Corrosion of High-Strength, Low-Alloy Steels

This data analysis was undertaken to investigate the weatherability of steels whose compositions do not fall in the range of ASTM Standard G101, Estimating the Atmospheric Corrosion Resistance of Low-Alloy Steels (1). This standard was developed to estimate the corrosion resistance of low-alloy weathering steels from chemical composition data and from actual atmospheric exposure tests. This sta...

investigating the effect of manganese content on the properties of high manganese austenitic steels

in this study, in order to investigate the effect of increasing the manganese content on microstructure and mechanical properties of high manganese austenitic steels, three alloys with successive increases in weight percentages of manganese (7.55, 13.1, and 16.5) and carbon (0.8 and 1.2) were cast in the presence of a constant amount of chromium (1.5 wt.%) and silica (0.6 wt.%). the samples exp...
