Managing the 8 Wastes of Lean at a Higher Education Institution: An ISM-MICMAC Approach

A Higher Education Institution (HEI) is required to be more competitive in maintaining its sustainability. The large number of stakeholders an HEI makes it difficult agile the intense competition. One concepts that can used improve agility Lean philosophy. philosophy focuses on eliminating waste process creating value for stakeholders. Previous research has identified several wastes operational activities HEI. This study aimed develop a series actions eliminate have been identified. Interpretive Structural Modelling (ISM) and Matrices Impacts cross-multiplication applique classmate (MICMAC) are employed model relationship between based their mutual influence. ISM forms hierarchical structure interrelationships wastes. Meanwhile, MICMAC will classify level influence cartesian diagram. These models help analyze root cause problem so effective elimination arranged.
