چکیده
Abstract Purpose of Review This study aims to summarize and critically review recent literature on management post-traumatic olfactory dysfunction (PTOD) with emphasis the diagnostic procedure treatment options. Recent Findings Magnetic resonance imaging testing are basis procedure. Time diagnosis is critical as most improvement occurs within first year after trauma. Olfactory training oral steroids seem be a relatively evidence-based therapeutic option but non-optimal results. Surgery has limited place in PTOD. Promising future options could development implants transplantation epithelium or stem cells. Summary PTOD challenging it several pathogenetic mechanisms poor prognosis. Patients impairment head trauma have diminished quality life, increased risk for harmful events depression. Thus, clinicians should not only focus equally appropriate counseling their patients order decrease risks personal injury improve daily life.

Investigation of prognostic factors for post-traumatic olfactory dysfunction.
BACKGROUND Post-traumatic olfactory dysfunction is common but has a poor prognosis. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of clinical features on improvements in post-traumatic olfactory dysfunction. METHODS From 2007 to 2013, patients with post-traumatic olfactory dysfunction were enrolled. Olfactory function was assessed using the Sniffin' Sticks test at the first and final vi...

OBJECTIVES/HYPOTHESIS There is evidence that the olfactory system can be modulated by repeated exposure to odors, a procedure called olfactory training. The aim of this study was to assess the effectiveness of olfactory training in patients with postinfectious and post-traumatic olfactory dysfunction. STUDY DESIGN Prospective study of 119 patients with postinfectious and post-traumatic olfact...

The sense of smell, one of the five basic senses that humans have, helps us detect different types of odors. It also plays an important role in the detection of pollutants, toxic gases, or rotten and hazardous foods. Although olfaction is considered less important than the other senses, smell disorders could cause a variety of problems, including reduced taste detection due to the relationship ...

متن کاملA Computational Agent Model for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorders
In this paper a computational agent model is presented that describes and mimics processing in persons with a Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). The model is based on insights from the neurological literature on how specific phenomena that are typical for PTSD patients can occur, such as re-experiencing the strong feeling related to the original traumatic event, dissociation (not feeling th...
