متن کاملMitigating Inefficiencies in Humanitarian Supply Chains
As disaster response becomes more complex, entities involved in humanitarian operations also increase in numbers and sophistication. Humanitarian actors are beginning to see the value that an efficient supply chain can bring. However, participating actors are faced with competition for funding and often do not cooperate with each other, which produces inefficient outcomes at the expenses of the...
متن کاملManaging Disruptions to Supply Chains
For as long as there have been supply chains, there have been disruptions, and no supply chain, logistics system, or infrastructure network is immune to them. Nevertheless, supply-chain disruptions have only recently begun to receive significant attention from practitioners and researchers. One reason for this growing interest is the spate of recent high-profile disruptions, such as September 1...
متن کاملMultiproduct Humanitarian Healthcare Supply Chains: A Network Modeling and Computational Framework
In this paper, we develop a model for supply chain network design in the case of multiple products, with particular relevance to humanitarian healthcare. The model allows for the determination of the optimal capacities of supply chain network activities in the form of manufacturing, storage, and distribution, as well as the optimal multiple product flows, and identifies at what minimal total co...
متن کاملManaging RFID data in supply chains
The implementation of RFID leads to improved visibility in supply chains. However, as a consequence of the increased data collection and enhanced data granularity, supply chain participants have to deal with new data management challenges. In this paper, we give an overview of the current challenges and solution proposals in the area of data collection and transformation, data organisation and ...
