Making Fanaroff-Riley I radio sources

چکیده
Extragalactic radio sources appear under different morphologies, the most frequent ones are classified as Fanaroff-Riley type I (FR I), typically with lower luminosities, and II, II), more luminous. This simple classification, however, has many exceptions that we intend to investigate. Following previous analyses in three-dimensional Hydrodynamic Magneto-Hydrodynamic limits, extend numerical investigation Relativistic regime, include whose jet kinetic power sets range separates FR Is from IIs. We consider weakly mildly relativistic, underdense, supersonic jets propagate a stratified medium. In model, ambient temperature increases distance origin maintaining constant pressure. present three cases low, high intermediate luminosity evolve into morphologies. find resulting morphology can be highly time dependent that, apart power, jet-to-ambient density ratio magnetization parameter play crucial role evolution well.

Extragalactic radio sources with hybrid morphology: implications for the Fanaroff-Riley dichotomy
We provide observational and theoretical perspectives on the currently much debated issue of the Fanaroff-Riley (FR) morphological dichotomy of extragalactic radio sources. In this context we introduce a new, albeit rare, class of double radio sources in which the two lobes exhibit clearly different FR morphologies. It is argued that such ‘HYbrid MOrphology Radio Sources’, or HYMORS, could be u...
متن کاملMagnetic Field Strengths in the Hot Spots and Lobes of Three Powerful Fanaroff-riley Type Ii Radio Sources
We have made deep Chandra observations of three powerful Fanaroff-Riley type II (FR II) radio sources: two quasars (3C 263 and 3C 351) and one radio galaxy (3C 330). X-ray emission from hot spots and lobes, as well as from the active nucleus, is detected in each source. We model the hot spots’ synchrotron spectra using VLA, BIMA, and Hubble Space Telescope data. In 3C 263 and 3C 330, the hot sp...
متن کاملOptical Nuclei of Radio - loud AGN and the Fanaroff - Riley Divide
We investigate the nature of the point-like optical " cores " that have been found in the centres of the host galaxies of a majority of radio galaxies by the Hubble Space Telescope. We examine the evidence that these optical cores are relativistically beamed, and look for differences in the behaviour of the cores found in radio galaxies of the two Fanaroff-Riley types. We also attempt to relate...
متن کاملOn the Origin of the Fanaroff – Riley Dichotomy
A small fraction of double radio sources show a peculiar and striking hybrid morphology; they have a distinctly FR I structure on one side of the nucleus, and a FR II structure on the other. We argue that the mere existence of these HYMORS is quite incompatible with the theoretical explanations for the Fanaroff–Riley dichotomy that are based upon the nature of the jet plasma, or those invoking ...
متن کاملUnified schemes for active galaxies: a clue from the missing Fanaroff-Riley type I quasar population
We link the lack of FR I type structure among quasars to the void of radio loud quasars below a critical disk luminosity of ∼ 10 erg/sec in the PG sample. We argue that the opening angle of the obscuring torus in radio loud quasars depends on the power of the central engine, approaching the jet’s beaming angle near the FR I/FR II break. Consequently, low power radio quasars would either be clas...
