Multivendor Catalogs: Smart Catalogs and Virtual Catalogs
We discuss how distributed multivendor catalogs can be created and used by multiple retailers. Currently, there are a variety of proprietary approaches to electronic catalogs. These include WWW catalogs built with stovepipe architectures that allow only one catalog to be used at a time. Also, proprietary catalogs are created using EDI 832 transactions that limit flexibility and technological gr...
متن کاملSmart Catalogs and Virtual Catalogs
We present an architecture for electronic catalogs, called Smart Catalogs and Virtual Catalogs. Smart catalogs are searchable, annotated combinations of machine-readable (i.e., minimally processable) and machine-sensible (i.e., actually understood by the computer) product data. Virtual catalogs dynamically retrieve information from multiple smart catalogs and present this product data in a unif...
متن کاملOn the Crab Proper Motion
Owing to the dramatic evolution of telescopes as well as optical detectors in the last 20 yrs, we are now able to measure anew the proper motion of the Crab pulsar, after the classical result of Wyckoff and Murray (1977) in a time span 40 times shorter. The proper motion is aligned with the axis of symmetry of the inner Crab nebula and, presumably, with the pulsar spin axis.
متن کاملPolaris: astrometric orbit, position, and proper motion
We derive the astrometric orbit of the photo-center of the close pair α UMi AP (= α UMi Aa) of the Polaris multiple stellar system. The orbit is based on the spectroscopic orbit of the Cepheid α UMi A (orbital period of AP: 29.59 years), and on the difference ∆μ between the quasi-instantaneously measured HIPPARCOS proper motion of Polaris and the longterm-averaged proper motion given by the FK5...
متن کاملProper motion in Cygnus A
Our recent VLBI observations of the prominent FR II radio galaxy Cygnus A with the EVN and the VLBA reveal a pronounced two-sided jet structure. from which we could derive the kinematics of the jet and counter-jet. On the jet side and on mas scales, the jet seems to accelerate from βapp ≈ 0.1 − 0.2 (Krichbaum et al. 1998) at core-separations near 1 mas to βapp ≈ 0.4 − 0.6 at r ≥ 4 mas (H0 = 100...
