Magnetic Proxy of Eurasian Loess Revealing Enhanced Physical Erosion Since the Mid‐Pleistocene Transition

چکیده
Eolian loess deposits contain valuable information about past climate changes and erosion history in dust source regions. In contrast to the extensive investigations of paleoclimatic implications Eurasian loess, continental has received less attention, particularly on global or hemispheric scales. The present study combines citrate-bicarbonate-dithionite (CBD) magnetic mineral extraction procedures linear regression parameters analyze loess. We find that lithogenic susceptibility Quaternary Central Asia, Europe Chinese Loess Plateau shows synchronous long-term increases since ∼0.6–0.5 Ma, suggesting intensive glacial and/or river incision have occurred surrounding mountains regions after mid-Pleistocene Transition. dramatic increase provides new insights into close relationships between late Cenozoic.

Modeling of piping erosion in loess soils
Extended abstract Introduction Piping erosion is one of the common water erosions usually occurs in soil with low infiltration and soluble minerals that finally changes landscape. Different factors control its occurrence and development. To predict piping occurrence/hazard through modeling, effective factors should be prioritized and considered as inputs of the model. The present study...
متن کاملEfficacy of Natural Polymer Derivatives on Soil Physical Properties and Erosion on an Experimental Loess Hillslope
Raindrops disperse large soil aggregates into smaller particles, which can clog soil pores, cause soil crusting, reduce rainfall infiltration and increase soil loss. It was found that natural polymer derivatives were effective in improving soil physical properties and decreasing soil erosion on an experimental loess hillslope. This study investigated the effect of new natural polymer derivative...
متن کاملReconstruction of the Late-Quaternary climate change using magnetic susceptibility of Saadabad-Gorgan loess deposits
Introduction One of the processes of the Quaternary era is the glacial and interglacial periods. In the glacial period, loesses deposited and in the interglacial period, Paleosoils were formed. The northern part of Iran is geographically the same as countries such as China, a large part of which has been covered with loess sediments during the Pleistocene glacial period. Loess sediments in ...
متن کاملThe Cancer Transition in Japan since 1951
The overall trend of cancer mortality in Japan has been decreasing since the 1960s (agestandardized death rates for ages 30-69), some 20-30 years earlier than in other industrialized countries. Cancer mortality was heavily influenced by Japanese post-war economic recovery, which led to improved living conditions and better control of some common forms of cancer (stomach, cervical) largely cause...
متن کاملThe Effect of Transition Metals Incorporation on the Structural and Magnetic Properties of Magnesium Oxide Nanoparticles
Pure and doped magnesium oxide nanoparticles were successfully synthesized employing a sol-gel process. The synthesized nanoparticles were characterized by thermal differential analysis, X-ray powder diffraction, transmission electron microscopy, scanning electron microscope, energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, and vibrating sample magnetometer. X-ray diffraction patterns confirmed the crysta...
