چکیده

The U.S. Hi-Lumi LHC Accelerator Upgrade Project (AUP) and CERN have joined efforts to develop high field quadrupoles for the upgrade. US national laboratories in AUP project will deliver 10 magnets each cryostat has two 4.2 m gradient it. These are made of Nb3Sn conductors, with large aperture (150 mm) integrated 556.9 T. This paper reports on magnetic measurements performed during vertical test at Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL) 2019-2020. A warm measurement Z-Scan (+/-15 A) 42 Z-positions before cool-down was BNL. results were directly compared data measured LBNL magnet assembly. Measured harmonics center offsets (ΔX ΔY) provided timely informative diagnostics structure's shape both cold temperatures. new centering fixture designed added better bore tube which contains rotating coil probe. After quench training 16.47 kA achieved, a complete set (Z-Scan I-Scan from 960 back made. Periodic axial variation allowed nonallowed observed is related radial and/or mid-plane variations along axis. Overall, average straight section within required boundaries.

Hi-lumi Lhc Collimation Studies with Merlin Code

The collimation system is key to the successful operation of the LHC. Measurements and simulations of the previous run at 4 TeV have shown that the system is ready for the next step, running at 7 TeV, but at the same time some sensitive cleaning locations have been identified. In particular the dispersion suppressors downstream of the betatron cleaning region in IR7 are sensitive to single diff...

A System for Series Magnetic Measurements of the LHC Main Quadrupoles

More than 400 twin aperture lattice quadrupoles are needed for the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) which is under construction at CERN. The main quadrupole is assembled with correction magnets in a common cryostat called the Short Straight Section (SSS). We plan to measure all SSSs in cold conditions with an unprecedented accuracy: integrated gradient of the field within 150 ppm, harmonics in a ran...

Magnetic Measurements of the 1 . 5 M Coils of the Anka Superconducting

A 1.5 m long superconducting undulator with a period length of 15mm is planned to be installed in ANKA end 2010 to be the light source of the new beamline NANO for high resolution X-ray diffraction. The key specifications of the system are an undulator parameter K higher than 2 (for a magnetic gap of 5mm) and a phase error smaller than 3.5 degrees. In order to characterize the magnetic field pr...
