Macroscopic-ranged proximity effect in graphite

چکیده
We report the observation of proximity effect in measurements performed on highly oriented pyrolitic graphite (HOPG) samples when electrical current is injected through superconducting electrodes placed sample surface few millimeters apart from each other. Such anomalously large surprising, as proximity-induced features normal conductors hardly surpass micrometers. The obtained results can be consistently understood, however, considering pre-existing correlations graphite, supported by recent observations intrinsic global superconductivity twisted bi- and multi-layer graphenes.

Bulk Topological Proximity Effect.
Existing proximity effects stem from systems with a local order parameter, such as a local magnetic moment or a local superconducting pairing amplitude. Here, we demonstrate that despite lacking a local order parameter, topological phases also may give rise to a proximity effect of a distinctively inverted nature. We focus on a general construction in which a topological phase is extensively co...
متن کاملPiezoresistive effect in epoxy-graphite composites
In this work, we investigate the piezoresistive response of epoxy-graphite composites. A resistive thick-film Wheatstone bridge is deposited by screen-printing onto a beam, a weight is then applied on the tip of the beam and the resulting electrical signal response is recorded, allowing the calculation of the gauge factor. The characterization was made at room temperature, 65°C and 100°C for di...
متن کاملA Macroscopic Gravity Wave Effect
Gravitational waves, although generally associated with extremely microscopic effects, can displace by hundreds of kilometers the pulsar interstellar scintillation patterns that bathe the Earth. The combination of the pulsar and the interstellar medium acts as a kiloparsec-long, nature-provided gravity wave amplifier. We show how an effective scheme for the detection of periodic gravity waves c...
متن کاملInteger Quantum Hall Effect in Graphite
We present Hall effect measurements on highly oriented pyrolytic graphite that indicate the occurrence of the integer quantum-Hall-effect. The evidence is given by the observation of regular plateau-like structures in the field dependence of the transverse conductivity obtained in van der Pauw configuration. Measurements with the Corbino-disk configuration support this result and indicate that ...
