چکیده

Abstract Aim The study was undertaken to determine the effect of amendments used in remediation cobalt-contaminated soil on macroelement content all organs spring barley (the main crop) and white mustard after-crop). Methods In experiment, six blocks were selected: without amendments; with manure (bovine, granulated); clay; charcoal; zeolite; calcium oxide (50%). each blocks, increasing doses cobalt applied: 0, 20, 40, 80, 160, 320 mg kg −1 soil. Results Cobalt-contaminated application had a significant both plants. Conclusions amendments, 80 Co contributed most increase nitrogen, sodium, contents barley. increased macroelements organs. Application strong impact phosphorus, plant species, compared control block (without amendments). Among greatest Manure potassium, sodium optimal is extremely important for growth development plants, especially soils contaminated trace elements, including cobalt.

Coping Mechanisms of Plants to Metal Contaminated Soil

Metals such as cobalt (Co), copper (Cu), iron (Fe) and nickel (Ni) are essential for nor‐ mal plant growth and development since they contribute to the function of many en‐ zymes and proteins. However, metals can potentially become toxic to plants when they are present at high levels in their bioavailable forms (Hall, 2002). Phytotoxic levels of one or more inorganic ions in soil can be found i...

Determination of the Content of Heavy Metals in Pyrite Contaminated Soil and Plants

Determination of a pyrite contaminated soil texture, content of heavy metals in the soil and soil pH, was the aim in the investigation. Acidification of damaged soil was corrected by calcium carbonate. Mineral nutrients and organic matter (NPK, dung, earthworm cast, straw and coal dust) were added to damaged soil. Afterwards, the soil was used for oat production. Determination of total heavy me...

Biological activity of soil contaminated with cobalt, tin, and molybdenum

In this age of intensive industrialization and urbanization, mankind's highest concern should be to analyze the effect of all metals accumulating in the environment, both those considered toxic and trace elements. With this aim in mind, a unique study was conducted to determine the potentially negative impact of Sn(2+), Co(2+), and Mo(5+) in optimal and increased doses on soil biological proper...

Improving Soil Physical Indicators by Soil Amendment to a Saline-Sodic Soil

The application of organic amendments can be an appropriate solution to reclaim and improve physical propertiesof saline-sodic soils. In this research, an experiment was performed under greenhouse conditions to study the effect ofamendments to the physical properties of loamy saline-sodic soil. The five treatments were control (withoutamendment), municipal solid waste compost (MC), vermicompost...

The status of cobalt in soil, plants and sheep in Shahrekord district, Iran

Cobalt (Co) deficiency occurs in many parts of world especially in tropical and subtropical countries.Primary Co deficiency occurs only in places where the soil is deficient in Co. The type of soil and the presence of other substances like manganese and lime influence the absorption of Co (secondary Co deficiency). To determine the Co status in Shahrekord district, Iran, several important farms...
