Erythroxylaceae) is a tree growing up to 9 m dry evergreen deciduous forests, distributed South India mainly on the Deccan plateau, 3000 ft. The wood oil possesses characteristic pleasant odour pungent taste, hence adulterated with sandalwood perfumery. Traditionally used webbing eczema; bark stomach ailments, as stimulant, diaphoretic, diuretic, dyspepsia also continuous fever. E. adulterant herbal drug market heartwood sandal account their morphological organoleptic resemblances. Objectives: A systematic pharmacognostical study dried stem has been executed identify microscopical phytochemical features. Materials Methods: Morphology, anatomy, powder microscopy TLC/HPTLC studies were carried out standard Pharmacopoeial protocols. Results: Surface characters, odour, arrangement xylem elements TS, TLS, RLS, fibres, tailed pitted vessels, tyloses, rays, axial parenchyma brownish content, tracheids, fibre prismatic crystal, crystal globules unique diagnostic characters observed. HPTLC showed 5, 6 11 bands under 254 nm, 366 nm white light (post derivatisation vanillin-sulphuric acid) respectively. denistogram 12, 10 13 peaks at UV 520 after derivatisation.
