Machine-Readable Entailments with the Italian Prendere Construction Expressing Hitting and Insulting Events

The Italian language features a little debated transitive construction with prendere ‘to take/to catch’ in which prepositional phrase (PP) an adverbial value occurs mandatorily (e.g. Lui prese pugni Leo ‘He punched Leo’). Semantically, this often implies the use of physical force or verbal offence. In hitting insulting event, notional subject generally is [+ Human] Agent, whilst direct object Animate] Affectee ([1]: 4). It can be contended that prendere, carries no literal meaning, zero-valent and predicate assigning semantic roles PP. A computational tool will illustrated, automatically performs following NLP / NLU tasks: it provides reliable syntactic representation clause type, produces machinereadable entailments three types, i.e. sentences ordinary verbs, support causative verb fare make/to have’.
