Mediastinal abscess resulting from dental infection.
A case of dental sepsis is presented which resulted in a deep neck infection and eventually caused a mediastinal abscess. The microbiology of such a mixed infection is briefly discussed with emphasis on the synergistic activity of the organisms. The anatomy of the fascial spaces is also described to draw attention to the possible routes of spread of this potentially life threatening condition.
متن کاملSpinal subarachnoid hematoma resulting from lumbar myelography.
We describe a rare complication of myelography. A subarachnoid filling defect was apparent on the postmyelographic CT but not on conventional myelography. MR imaging performed later showed a spinal subarachnoid hematoma (SSAH), extending from L3 to L5. Lumbar puncture may rarely be a cause for SSAH and is more common in patients with coagulopathy. Significant back pain, paresis, radiculopathy, ...

متن کاملNephrobronchial fistula and lung abscess resulting from nephrolithiasis and pyelonephritis.
There are multiple etiologies reported as causes of lung abscess; however, this differential rarely includes intra-abdominal abnormalities other than extension of a hepatic process. We describe a patient who was found to have a lung abscess and empyema resulting from the development of a nephrobronchial fistula secondary to nephrolithiasis and pyelonephritis. The patient had no urinary symptoms...
