Lower Paleozoic low-grade metamorphic units from the Central Balkan Zone, Bulgaria: tectonic relationships, framework and geodynamic significance

چکیده
The Central Balkan Zone belongs to the north-vergent fold-and-thrust belt of Alpine orogen. In this zone, pre-Permian low-grade rocks, metamorphosed during Variscan orogeny, were later reworked at two main stages compressional tectonics. Several tectono-stratigraphic subdivisions these metamorphic rocks previously presented, based on a purely stratigraphic approach in absence detailed structural studies and, most importantly, reliable paleontological and geochronological records. study, we propose new framework from Zone, applying critical analysis existing data combined with lithological observations. Relationships between very low-grade metamorphism and tectonic deformation: examples from the southern Central Iberian Zone (Iberian Massif,
We have studied the syn-kinematic very low-grade metamorphism in a polyphase Variscan deformed region using X-ray diffraction techniques. Two phases of regional metamorphism are related to their respective episodes of penetrative deformation in the southern Central Iberian Zone. The data obtained suggest that the rocks did not reach metamorphic equilibrium, but strain favoured the progress of m...

In the Geologists and Miller Ranges of the central Transantarctic Mountains, mafic and ultramalic tectonic blocks occur in an Early Cambrian amphiboliteto granulite-facies lower crustal transpressional shear zone. Mafic blocks consist of garnet + clinopyroxene symplectite + hornblende + plagioclase + quartz + ilmenite f orthopyroxene f biotite;mineral compositions in these blocks generally refl...

[1] A >500-km-long east-west trending metamorphic belt in the Qiangtang terrane of central Tibet consists of tectonic melange that occurs in the footwalls of Late Triassic–Early Jurassic domal low-angle normal faults. The melange is comprised of a strongly deformed matrix of metasedimentary and mafic schists that encloses lesser-deformed blocks of metabasites, Carboniferous–Triassic metasedimen...
