چکیده

This study develops an easy-to-conduct numerical calculation method to assess the effect of Textile Reinforced Mortar when used as externally bonded flexural strengthening technique in low-grade reinforced concrete beams from ancient structures (aged between 60 and 100 years old). Using materials main mechanical characteristics dimensions inputs, model defines behaviour strengthened elements. paper includes experimental characterization whole solution, constituent composite pure tensile scaled flexure. In total three different – basalt, carbon steel cords are inner reinforcement. Tests carried out on sixteen that reproduce low-quality concretes with a compression strength below 17 MPa and, general, poor properties, those present old decayed structures. campaign two other particular features adopted retrofitting technique: ratio use anchorage system. The obtained findings assessed satisfactorily compared developed approach, leading us conclude is effective solution for made terms increasing their deformation load-bearing capacity under loads (the maximum bending moment has increased 30% 200%). Besides, failure mechanism due undesired premature detachment was effectively countered using U-shaped anchors, failing failure.

OPTIMAL PERFORMANCE-BASED SEISMIC DESIGN OF COMPOSITE BUILDING FRAMES WITH RC COLUMNS AND STEEL BEAMS

Composite RCS building frames integrate reinforced concrete columns with structural steel beams to provide an efficient solution for the design and construction of earthquake-resisting structures. In this paper, an optimization framework is developed for performance-based seismic design of planar RCS moment resisting frames. The objective functions are defined as minimizing the construction cos...

Experimental and Analytical Study on Reinforced Concrete Beams in Bending Strengthened with FRP

The performance of the interface between fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) composites and concrete is one of the key factors affecting the behavior of strengthened reinforced concrete (RC) structures. Existing laboratory research has shown that RC beams strengthened with FRP sheets usually fail because of either debonding of the impregnated fabric from the concrete substrate or fracture of the FRP...

Experimental Study on Structural Degradation of CFRP Strengthened RC Beams Subjected to Weak Interfaces

Abstract: The performance of corroded reinforced concrete (RC) beams strengthened with externally bonded carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) materials may be affected by a weak interface caused either by defective bonding between the new and old concrete in the case of cover replacement or by expansive cracks in the case of direct application. To investigate this effect, thirteen strengthene...
