Low-frequency, spanwise oscillation in a finite-width cavity at Mach 1.5

چکیده

A joint experimental–computational program examined low-frequency, spanwise oscillations in supersonic flow over a finite-width cavity. Lowpass-filtered rear wall surface pressure revealed that shear layer impingement was most often biased to one side of the wall, switching sides at frequency two orders magnitude below resonance. Therefore, bifurcation into spanwise-asymmetric, mirrored, quasi-steady states could be defined. The were described by impingement/ejection near asymmetry layer, and centrifugal inner-cavity flow. Resonance amplitudes also found spatially modulated low-frequency switching. yawed inflow force asymmetric states.

Adaptive hp-Finite Element Method for Low Mach Number Flows

Flow configurations in the low-Mach number regime usually lead locally to large gradients in the velocity field as well as in the temperature variable. Such structures including boundary layers are typical in the study of e.g. heat transfer problems or more generally in situations where compression effects are mainly due to thermodynamical effects (see e.g. [1]). We propose a method based on hp...

Electron Acceleration at a Low-mach-number Perpendicular Collisionless Shock

A full particle simulation study is carried out on the electron acceleration at a collisionless, relatively low Alfven Mach number (MA = 5), perpendicular shock. Recent self-consistent hybrid shock simulations have demonstrated that the shock front of perpendicular shocks has a dynamic rippled character along the shock surface of low-Mach-number perpendicular shocks. In this paper, the effect o...

Low Mach

This paper is devoted to the low Mach number limit of weak solutions to the compressible Navier-Stokes equations for isentropic uids in the whole space R d (d = 2 or 3). This problem was investigated by P.L. Lions and N. Masmoudi 19]. We present here a diierent approach based upon Strichartz' estimates for the linear wave equation like in 21] in the inviscid case, which improves the convergence...

Cavity Field Reconstruction at Finite Temperature

We present a scheme to reconstruct the quantum state of a field prepared inside a lossy cavity at finite temperature. Quantum coherences are normally destroyed by the interaction with an environment, but we show that it is possible to recover complete information about the initial state (before interaction with its environment), making possible to reconstruct any s-parametrized quasiprobability...

Synchronization of Low-Frequency Oscillation in Power Systems

This paper presents the well-documented concept of synchronization of low frequency oscillation occurring in power systems and describes the characteristics of sync occurring in basic electrical circuits. The theory of sync, observed in basic circuits, is extended to analyze the dynamic characteristics of low-frequency oscillation in power systems.
