This paper discusses the design and deployment of low-cost Internet Things (IoT) in medium-scale open pit mines to optimise performance their mining small-scale trucks surface shovels. Low-cost IoT can be implemented operations automate collection process management information that is currently measured manually, replicating part results delivered by commercial Fleet Management Systems (FMSs) such as calculations number truck cycles per shift, shovel loading time, positioning, tonnes moved day, speed average fleet efficiency. The developing benches also monitored. By monitoring these tasks, FMSs industry allow mine operators maximise productivity, reduce equipment required accomplish production targets, minimise material re-handling, supply plant planned meet ore blending objectives for better metallurgical recoveries. In case large-scale mines, are prepared invest high cost a typical FMS (of order $100,000/month depending on size) because they enable ensure capital-intensive fleets operate at peak generating maximum return investment. contrast, many cannot afford installation ongoing costs associated with FMS.
