چکیده
Abstract The purpose of this study was to quantify the sleep disturbances caused by climate change using disability-adjusted life years (DALY). revised quality index for daily (SQIDS2), a self-administered questionnaire quality, developed assess disturbances. This referenced and simplified Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI). conducted in Nagoya City August 2011 2012. measured SQIDS2 PSQI. A total 574 participants 710 2012 responded survey. disturbance prevalence calculated from score correlated with minimum temperature ( p = 0.0067). increased when above 24.8 °C. When correcting PSQI score, DALY loss due heat-related (population: 2,266,851) estimated be 81.8 value comparable heatstroke. quantified based on Legislators must recognize critical impact damage high temperatures at night. Additionally, 25 °C should starting point establishing goal or guideline nighttime temperature.

BACKGROUND South Africa is experiencing epidemiological transition, with the burden of chronic diseases increasing. Stroke is currently the second leading cause of death in South Africa; however, limited data are available on incidence, prevalence and resulting disability. Quantifying the epidemiological parameters and disease burden is important in the planning of health services. AIMS To sy...

Introduction: Nursing education has to be planned considering the community’s health needs based on the most recent criteria introduced by World Health Organization. The purpose of this study was to determine whether nursing curriculum conform to the burden of diseases as Disability Adjusted Life Years in Iran in 2003. Methods: In this comparative study, the etiology of burden of diseases base...

mapping a certain disease into a system of disabling attributes allows researchers to compare diseases within a common framework. to quantify the total burden of morbidity (e.g., morbidity attributable to alcohol use), so-called disability weights (DWs) must be generated. general-population surveys can be used to derive DWs from health valuation tasks. this article describes the application of ...
متن کاملDisability-adjusted life years in the assessment of health effects of traffic-related air pollution.
Traffic-related air pollutants have an impact on human health and have been recognized as one of the main stressors that cause mortality and morbidity in urban areas. Research confirms that citizens living in the vicinity of main roads are strongly exposed to high concentrations of numerous air pollutants. In the present study the measurements of traffic-related parameters such as density, velo...

• Both QALYs and DALYs are also usually discounted, meaning more weight can be given to immediate over distant outcomes, and both measures can account for disease severity. The two measures however are not interchangeable.1 For example, DALYs incorporate an age-weighting function, which assigns lower weights to the years of the young and elderly, and the origins of disability and quality of lif...
