Long-Term Stable Near-Infrared–Short-Wave-Infrared Photodetector Driven by the Photothermal Effect of Polypyrrole Nanostructures

Polypyrrole (PPy) is a conductive polymer and widely applied in different applications owing to its broadband absorption the UV-visible, near-infrared (NIR), short-wave-infrared (SWIR) spectrum, excellent conductivity, strong photothermal effect. In this work, we explored for first time effect of PPy nanoparticles (PPy-NPs) photothermal-induced detector structure developed new type air-stable hybrid PPy-NPs/Pt photodetector (PD) with NIR/SWIR sensitivity. By combining PPy-NPs platinum (Pt)-resistive pattern, fabricated PDs that are sensitive illumination wavelength range from 800 2000 nm. Under λ = 1.5 μm, maximum photoresponsivity was measured be ∼1.3 A/W 131 μs photoresponse rise time. Owing material stability both Pt current photodetectors show long-term stable when they were stored air without encapsulation. The results suggest promising candidates low-cost due their multiple advantages such as free toxic heavy metals, stability, solution processing.

Polypyrrole nanoparticles for high-performance in vivo near-infrared photothermal cancer therapy.
Polypyrrole nanoparticles (PPy NPs) exhibit strong absorption in the near infrared (NIR) region. With an excellent photothermal efficiency of ~45% at 808 nm, sub-100 nm PPy NPs are demonstrated to be a promising photothermal agent for in vivo cancer therapy using NIR irradiation.
