Long-term results of Kinematic Condylar knee replacement. An analysis of 404 knees.
We present the long-term results of the Kinematic Condylar Knee Arthroplasty followed in a prospective fashion. Between October 1982 and March 1988, 404 consecutive replacement arthroplasties were carried out on 335 patients. Of these, 354 knees had osteoarthritis, 45 rheumatoid arthritis and five other diagnoses. At the time of final follow-up 158 patients (188 knees) had died. No patient was ...
متن کاملLong-term results of total condylar knee arthroplasty.
From 1979 to 1984, 126 consecutive Total Condylar (Howmedica, Rutherford, NJ) knee arthroplasties were performed at a hospital in Taiwan, of which 64 knees were available for evaluation. The patients' average weight was 58 kg. The average Hospital for Special Surgery knee score at the latest follow-up was 86 points. Using revision for mechanical failure as an end point, the 20-year overall surv...
متن کاملLong-term results of Geomedic total knee replacement.
Seventy-one Geomedic total knee replacements were reviewed retrospectively at a maximum of eight and a half years. The prosthesis was found to be successful in its primary aim of relieving pain. However, there was an overall failure rate of 18.3%. Analysis of the results by an actuarial method allowed comparison with other prostheses. The factors involved in failure are discussed.
متن کاملLong-term outcomes of primary constrained condylar knee arthroplasty.
BACKGROUND Although constrained condylar knee (CCK) inserts are widely used for total knee arthroplasty (TKA), their long-term outcomes remain unclear. We sought to evaluate patients with at least 10 years' follow-up after CCK TKA to identify potential adverse events (osteolysis, loosening, constraint-mechanism failure), assess functional outcomes with special emphasis on range of motion, and d...
متن کاملLong-term results of compartmental arthroplasties of the knee: Long term results of partial knee arthroplasty.
Partial knee arthroplasty (PKA), either medial or lateral unicompartmental knee artroplasty (UKA) or patellofemoral arthroplasty (PFA) are a good option in suitable patients and have the advantages of reduced operative trauma, preservation of both cruciate ligaments and bone stock, and restoration of normal kinematics within the knee joint. However, questions remain concerning long-term surviva...
